MAMO is a project born in Venice from the collaboration between father and daughter,
Maurizio Molin and Matilde Molin.
Maurizio Molin, born and living in Venice, started my career as a custom shoe maker, then as a designer/artist, and later I had the opportunity to move to the United States, where I worked for Burton for 20 years as a designer and then as Creative Director. Upon returning to Venice, I decided to open my own design studio, Tablefortwdesign, where we focus on design consulting and art.
Matilde Molin, also born in Venice, spent part of her life in the USA. She studied languages but later developed a passion for fashion and design. This led her to study Fashion Design and to join me in the studio.
One day, she asked me why, despite all my collaborations, I had never thought of starting my own brand. That evening, we began brainstorming about the story behind it and the name. After days of reflection, we realized the story was us—the generational mix of my experience and her fresh perspective on fashion. It's a bit like many Italian family-run restaurants! And so we decided to call our brand Mamo, the union of the initials of our first names and our family name.
It was immediately clear the direction we wanted to take the product, a modern declination in the way of wearing it. We have and are researching different ideas of how to wear sneakers without the laces but with different components.
